Devolution and governance structures in the UK: lessons from evidence — postponed

Join us for the launch of the Industrial Strategy Council's final report, in partnership with WM-REDI

Event at Online

Please note this event has been postponed to a later date.

It is widely acknowledged that the UK is one of the most centralised countries in Europe. At this event, the outgoing Industrial Strategy Council launch its latest research on this issue – and set out what needs to be done to address it.

Join us to hear more about a framework for devolving power from central government to sub-national authorities, derived from analysis of the history of devolution in the UK and how that has shaped the current landscape, as well as substantial primary evidence gathered as part of the project.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Kate Barker, Member, Industrial Strategy Council
  • Greg Clark, MP for Tunbridge Wells & Chair of Science & Technology Select Committee
  • Dr Arianna Giovannini, Associate Professor, Local Politics & Public Policy, De Montford University
  • Andy Haldane, Chair, Industrial Strategy Council
  • Paul Swinney, Director of Policy and Research, Centre for Cities

The panel’s contributions will be followed by an audience Q&A. The event will be chaired by Andrew Carter, Chief Executive of Centre for Cities.

This in an online event and places are limited. If you have signed up, we will get back in touch with you when a new date is confirmed and hopefully you will still be able to join us.
