Nominations of metro mayor candidates opened: May 2016: In the coming months individuals will announce they would like to run for metro mayor in the different city regions. Where more than one candidate is announced for an individual party there will be a ballot among party members to decide who will be the official candidate.
Deadline to confirm devolution deals and elect mayor in May: September/October 2016 (tbc)
Election date: 4 May 2017, then May 2020 and every four years after that.
