Event catch-up: a century of cities

Audio, video and slides from our first City Horizons event at Warwick Business School in the Shard.

Podcast published on 31 March 2015

We were delighted to host the first of our major event series, City Horizons, at the Warwick Business School in London’s iconic Shard, exploring the rise and fall of urban Britain over a century.

Nick Crafts, Professor of Economics and Economic History at the University of Warwick, talked about the economic history of modern Britain through its cities, from the end of the 19th century to the start of the 21st. He explored how and why cities, particularly in the North West, thrived during the industrial era and asked why some places have maintained that momentum, while others across the UK have not.
