What future for the British high street?

How and why do cities differ for consumers?

The launch of our latest research

Event starts at 8.30am on 12 September 2019 at Westminster

Cities are often where people choose to spend their leisure time, but what they have to offer differs. We all want to see bustling city centres, but what should be on the wish-list when it comes to their consumer offer?

Building on our previous research on city centres and their importance to the wider economy, this launch of our latest report, in partnership with Nationwide Building Society, will provide new insight into the consumer life of cities, how amenities relate to economic performance and culture-led regeneration. Its findings will resonate with the ongoing current debate about the vibrancy and longevity of the high street.

The panel of speakers will be chaired Andrew Carter, our chief executive, and will include Joe Garner, Nationwide’s chief executive, representatives of government and business. This event will include a presentation on the findings from the new research and an opportunity to quiz the panel on the issues it raises.

Numbers are limited so please email rsvp@centreforcities.org if you are interested in coming to this event.
