What does the Covid-19 roadmap mean for cities and city regions?

Online briefing and Q&A

Event starts at 11.00 on 18 March 2021 at Online, via Zoom

The Prime Minister has set out his roadmap that could see all Covid restrictions lifted as early as 21 June this year. As we take stock of the huge impact the pandemic and its associated restrictions have had, this event considered the challenges for cities as they seek to recover from the crisis, in their centres and for the towns and communities that surround them.

What should Covid recovery mean for economic development plans and local industrial strategies? How can local leaders effect change? What should the Government be doing to support them?

Speakers:

  • Julia Goldsworthy, Director of Strategy, West Midlands Combined Authority
  • Kate Ingram, Head of Regeneration and Planning, Burnley
  • Paul Swinney, Director of Policy and Research, Centre for Cities
  • Andy Westwood, Vice Dean for Social Responsibility, The University of Manchester
