Join Centre for Cities and policy experts to discuss how to balance both widening and deepening devolution, and what's next for English devolution.
Metro mayors now cover half of the UK’s population and lead on policy areas including transport, skills and housing. Over the last decade much progress has been made, and the Labour government is committed to creating more mayors to fill in the missing half of the country. There is also considerable demand from existing mayors for more powers and flexibilities. This event will examine the merits of the Labour government’s commitment and proposed approach to devolution, and the extent to which both widening and deepening devolution is desirable and deliverable.
