Centre for Cities, ICE and Teesside University will be hosting a hustings ahead of the mayoral election
From May, the Tees Valley will have a new mayor with powers over transport, planning and skills. The elected metro mayor will have an important opportunity to set out and implement a strategic vision for the economy of the metro area, supporting people, firms and institutions to build a more prosperous region in the decades to come.
As the campaign for the election gains momentum, Centre for Cities, ICE and Teesside University are organising a hustings for candidates to set out their plans to drive growth in the city-region.
The discussion will be chaired by Barry Walmsley of Teesside University, and mayoral candidates will be asked to set out their aspirations for the future of the Tees Valley, with particular reference to Infrastructure, Innovation and Inspiration.
Confirmed candidates are:
Cllr Sue Jeffrey, Labour
Ben Houchen, Conservative
John Tait, North East Party
John Tennant, UKIP
Chris Foote-Wood, Liberal Democrat
