Speeding Ahead: how can transport support economic growth across the country?

Roundtable with Transport for London at Labour Party Conference.

Event starts at 12:30 on 28 September 2015 at Brighton

Creating urban transport systems that enable people to get to the jobs and services they need has long been at the heart of Labour’s plans for the national economy. The government is taking forward major projects such as HS2 and considering Crossrail 2 and HS3, and promising more powers to individual cities.

This senior-level roundtable seeks to explore and debate Labour’s vision for the future of urban transport and ask how leaders within cities can use new powers to improve local transport in their area.

Speakers:

  • Jo Cox MP Member for Batley and Spen, and Member of the CLG Select Committee
  • Katja Hall Deputy Director General, CBI
  • Vernon Everitt Managing Director – Customer Experience, Marketing and Communications at Transport for London
  • Andrew Carter Deputy Chief Executive of Centre for Cities (Chair)
