Sheffield City Region – Economy Hustings

We hosted a hustings event ahead of the Sheffield City Region Mayor election with the Sheffield City Region Chambers of Commerce

Event starts at 08:00 on 20 April 2018 at The Source Skills Academy, Meadowhall Way, Sheffield

In May 2018 Sheffield City Region elected its first metro mayor. Electing a metro mayor is an important opportunity to set out and implement a strategic vision for the economy of the metro area, supporting people, firms and institutions to build a more prosperous Sheffield City Region.

During the campaign, Centre for Cities and the Sheffield City Region Chambers of Commerce hosted a hustings where candidates will set out their plans to drive growth in the city region.

Covering questions relating to the economy, the event offered guests the chance to quiz their candidates on their plans around three main topics:

  • Jobs and skills
  • Housing and transport
  • Business and enterprise

The candidates were:

  • Mick Bower, Yorkshire Party
  • Dan Jarvis, Labour
  • Hannah Kitching, Liberal Democrats
  • Rob Murphy, Green Party
  • Ian Walker, Conservatives
