Making the most of Scottish cities

This invitation only roundtable will discuss how Holyrood can harness the power of Scotland's cities

Event starts at 12pm on 13 December 2016 at Edinburgh, contact for details

This senior-level roundtable, in partnership with Core Cities Group, will discuss how the Scottish government can harness the success of its cities to support Scotland’s economic growth as a whole.

As Scotland makes moves towards greater devolution and an increasingly independent future, successful, growing cities will be increasingly important to the future of the Scottish economy.

City deals for Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Inverness and Glasgow are already enabling focused, locally led investment; this high-level roundtable will discuss and debate how far these deals will stimulate economic growth. It will also ask what role cities can play in the context of national devolution and seek to understand what cities themselves need to support a strong, sustainable Scottish economy.

The event will bring together around 25 city-based MSPs, city leaders and officers, and business representatives. The event will also hear from a senior representative in the Scottish Government, as well as senior speakers from cities and business.

The event is by invitation only, contact Rita Beden for more information.
