Hidden unemployment in UK cities

Join us at this roundtable event to launch joint analysis with the OECD on recent trends in economic inactivity across OECD countries with a particular focus on UK cities.

Event starts at 10am on 17 October 2019 at Westminster

There is a great deal of discussion about supporting unemployed people to return to the labour market. But the analysis suggests the number of people that need support is underestimated: in addition to people who are currently unemployed, a quarter of people who are economically inactive would like to be working.

This research considers the extent to which there is ‘hidden unemployment’ in urban areas around the country and make recommendations for local and national government on how best to tackle it.

At this event, you will have the opportunity to hear from the authors of the research and to discuss its findings. The event will be of interest to all those working in skills and employment policy across urban areas.

The event is free to attend but numbers are limited so please email rsvp@centreforcities.org to secure your place.
