The first in our City Horizons event series explores the fall and rise of urban Britain with guest speaker Professor Nick Crafts.
We were delighted to host the first of our major event series, City Horizons, at London’s iconic Shard, exploring the rise and fall of urban Britain over a century.
Joined by Professor Nick Crafts, the event told the economic history of modern Britain through its cities, from the end of the 19th century to the start of the 21st. It explored the increasing dominance of London within much of British social and cultural life, and looked at the rise and fall and, in too few cases, rise again of once-booming industrial cities.
