In the wake of the Spending Review, cities of all sizes and from every region face an uncertain future. What will a shrinking public purse, and the knock-on impact of spending cuts on the private sector, mean for the future of regeneration? What should the plan be for the physical transformation of cities struggling with the challenges of industrial decline, population loss and the spending squeeze? And how can buoyant cities manage the challenges of congestion and pressure on house prices – and are the right incentives for growth there?
Our expert panel will discuss the lessons UK and US cities can learn from each other – and explore what UK cities could look like after this age of austerity.
The Centre will also be launching its latest research findings on the physical regeneration of the built environment in UK cities at the event.
