Conservative conference roundtable: from Midlands Engine to Northern Powerhouse

Join us at this roundtable at party conference to discuss how the Conservatives will support city transport

Event starts at 08:30 on 3 October 2016 at Birmingham

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Transport for London on a high level roundtable at the Conservative Party Conference:  ‘From Midlands Engine to Northern Powerhouse: how can transport support a vision for cities in 2020?

Building the right infrastructure is vital to encourage a successful and balanced national economy and support better access to jobs and services within city regions. The government recognises this, with announcements such as ‘High Speed 3’ between Leeds and Manchester demonstrating that transport is fundamental to its Northern Powerhouse and devolution projects. At a time when a newly formed government is facing many competing priorities, this roundtable will debate what the priorities for urban transport investment should be now to support UK cities to grow and prosper in the future.

This roundtable will bring together around 25-30 senior level attendees from cities, business and policy. Lord Ahmad Minister for the Department for Transport, Vernon Everitt, Managing Director, Customers, Communication and Technology at Transport for London, Cllr Donna Jones, Leader of Portsmouth City Council and Paul Faulkner Chief Executive at the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce will speak.

This event is by invitation only, contact rsvp@centreforcities.org for more information. We will be hosting an equivalent event at the Labour Party Conference, more details are available here.
