Prior to joining the Centre for Cities in July 2007, Claire was Media Director at the Equal Opportunities Commission, where she helped to raise the profile of gender inequality as a political issue. Between 2002 and 2005 she worked at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office as a communications manager and speechwriter to the Minister for Europe, and while at the FCO co-ordinated the UK's celebrations of EU enlargement.  She has also worked in the private sector, as UK corporate PR manager for IBM, and as a public relations consultant to several IT companies.

Claire has a BA (Hons) in English from Cambridge University (1997) and is a Fellow of the RSA.
