Another failure to introduce an elected mayor
Sheffield has joined Manchester, Coventry, Nottingham and Bradford in coming out against elected mayors. Neighbouring Leeds and Wakefield, where referenda were also held, have not yet called the results, so five out of the ten potential mayoral cities have now voted no out of the six results so far, with only Bristol set to vote for a Mayor in November.
We’ll be following the results from Birmingham, Leeds, Wakefield and Newcastle as they come in but it still looks like the Cabinet of Mayors will be a pretty cosy meeting
